Synopsis
Tsepo is the child co-star of e'Lollipop, the 1976 South African cult classic, but as the hype surrounding the film fades, his real life turns to chaos.
Tsepo has three dreams: To finish school, pursue his acting career and marry the love of his life. However, after the Soweto Riots of 1976, his life begins to fall apart. Apartheid robs him of his matric qualification; he can't find work; he is accused of a crime he didn't commit and is separated from the love of his life, Sabela, and from his best friend and co-star, Jannie. The childhood star's hurt turns to anger, resentment and fear, marking the beginning of his downward spiral. He goes on the run and doesn't stop for 22 years.
After being smuggled out of the country, becoming a Spanish dancer and being seduced by the high life, Tsepo gets arrested in a Madrid night-club and deported back to South Africa. While feeding his drug habit, Tsepo's life is consumed by the criminal underworld. His separation from Sabela and a realisation that his life was not meant to turn out this way make his life unbearable.
Through an extraordinary chain of events, a gaunt and unrecognisable Tsepo is found in a derelict slum after more than two decades on the run and is given the opportunity of a lifetime...
e'Lollipop 2: Tsepo's Story is the poignant journey of Muntu Ndebele, a childhood star who was lost but never forgotten. South Africans have been asking for decades what happened to the star of e'Lollipop.
This is his true life story.
